Have you snagged yourself a copy of EYMM’s newest pattern, the Women’s Timeless Pencil Skirt, yet? If not, what are you waiting for?!? It sews up SO quickly and looks so professional! I’ve been low on motivation these past few weeks and this skirt was the perfect thing to put me back on track!
I chose to cut and sew the classic fit with natural waist height and below the knee length with the kick pleat in the back. My fabric choice for this one is a striated dark gray ponte that I picked up at Walmart for under $6 per yard. It has the perfect weight to skim over my bumps and leave me feeling fabulous!
Besides the straighter classic fit, natural waist height, and below knee length, the pattern options include a slimmer tapered leg fit, a higher empire waist cut line, and an above the knee length. You can mix and match the two waist and two length options to create the perfect combination for your body.
The Timeless Pencil Skirt includes the option of either a contoured waistband or a yoga waistband. I lean more toward a pear shape and my waist measurement is at the low end of the size in which my hips are solidly in the middle. Because of that, I chose to use the contoured waistband, which is curved in the front to help it hug my waist and fit better.
Perhaps the part I was most excited about, though, is the optional kick pleat that I chose to include on my skirt. It was hard to get a picture of (especially since my photographer today was my unenthusiastic husband, lol), but I think the kick pleat gives this pencil that extra boost in professionalism.
It’s a good thing this skirt is so quick to sew because I’m already planning several more skirts for myself, my oldest daughter has requested one, and Kymy’s working on the girl’s version … so I’ll be making a couple for my youngest girl, too!!
Happy Sewing!! ~ Joelle
