Here are the fabrics I finally chose for my quilt for Old Red Barn Co.’s quilt-a-long.
It’s hard when you can’t just find a whole colorway of your favorite designer quilting fabric! I really wanted to get the Paula Prass Flights of Fancy in the Summer colorway, but in order to get what I needed I would have to order from at least 2 different sites & with the extra shipping it really tacked on a lot of cost & a long wait. I really love the Black/Red/White/Aqua color combo & I haven’t found any other lines that are similar 🙁 . Maybe when I KNOW I can finish the quilt I can justify the cost and I will try to get my hands on some.
I checked out the local quilt shop this week but sadly just wasn’t inspired! So I decided today to take the ferry into town & make a trip to JoAnns. After being totally lost for over 30 minutes at JoAnn’s I found the 3 fabrics on the top of the pile & suddenly I could picture it and I started finding fabrics to match! They are all different brands & designers of quilters cotton.
It was SOOO hard not to get lots of fabric to make clothes for the girls, there were quite a few Alexander Henry fabrics that I was just drooling over! I did break down & get I am very yummy Alexander Henry fabric to make the girls some summer dresses… it’s his ‘Juicy’ line called ‘Juicy Lemon‘. I have to finish up the girls birthday outfits & bedding so I can start on these dresses!
Anyways back to the quilt :). I am excited to have the fabric… and can’t wait to start working on it! If you are interested in joining Old Red Barn Co.’s quilt-a-long just click on the picture below!

I washed & ironed them all tonight and I have to say I think I like them even more then I did yesterday :). I wish I could find more fabrics in these colorways.

I’ve never thought about quilt making; just the word quilt makes me think of my great-grandmother. But these colors and patterns are so chic, you’ve inspired me to give it a try. I can’t wait to see your finished product.
