… running on a treadmill for the first time in 9 years while getting over a nasty head cold! I haven’t been on a treadmill since I was in 10th grade. I have ridden the exercise bike but it’s just not the same! I lost a total of 29lbs last year, mostly between July & October. Anyways I took a break for the holidays which I did very good with because I have maintained my weight loss for the last 5ish months without struggling!
Well I have decided that I need to tackle these last 11 lbs before summer gets here. I have been starting to pay more attention to what I am eating to get back into weight loss mode, but B decided to bring his treadmill back into the house and this afternoon I decided what the heck! I have never been a runner… I was one of the kids on the track that sprint/walked their mile. When I wasn’t living with my parents & their smoking for a few years in HS I started running a little bit, and could at least manage a mile, but that stopped once I moved back in with them & their smoking in the tiny apartment. So I had very bad images in my head of what was about to take place…
Well, it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought! I started out at a light jog at 3.5mph & was at 5mph when I finished on a 2% incline. I ran for 5 minutes walked for 1 (around the house) & ran for 5 more. I ran .75 a mile total in 10 minutes of running, which for a lot of people is no biggy, but I was very proud :)! I probably would have went for the full mile if my head wasn’t still stuffed up.
I burnt about 100 calories in the 10 minutes which is more then you can burn doing most other stuff for that amount of time, so now I feel good & I’m getting back on track for those last 11lbs! Anyways everyone here is napping, so I figured I would share before I hop in the shower :).
P.S. I know you guys what some more sewing stuff, I promise it’s coming, I just have to finish cleaning up my sewing area!

WTG!!! I just started running again since having my daughter. You may want to do the CT5K program. I see you’re a member or sparkpeople, they have a group for that! It’s fun! Great job!

I have never been a runner either. but I’m doing it! Here’s a website you might want to check out. A friend of mine used this program and went from doing nearly nothing to running a half marathon. i’m very proud of her! I’m still working on my 5ks.
