A few days ago I received this question via email. I decided that I would answer it here since I have been asked simular questions on some forums too.
Hi! I am a mom of twin girls also…my little ones are 8 months. I was googling “how to make baby leg warmers” and came across your post. Very creative! I have not sewed since 7th grade Home Ec when I made a lovely little pillow that came apart in about 5 minutes. However…baby stuff is ridiculously expensive and I have FAITH that I can learn to make some things for the girls. I thought you might be able to recommend a good way to start such as a book or easy project?? Thanks for any advice/tips you might have…
Laura
Well Laura I am glad that my blog is being enjoyed! The baby legs is actually a GREAT project to start with. It quick easy, & can be done with a sewing machine or by hand. As for sewing baby clothes I really just got interested in making them when my twin girls were born… they are 8 months & 2 days old & one of them started crawling today!!! Anyways I suggest if you want to learn get a sewing machine… when you have to make everything x2 thats a lot of sewing. If its been that long since you have sewn I would suggest starting out making a few pillows… or things that require basic long straight lines. Curtains are always a great way to practice!!! Here are some basic free tutorials/patterns I have stumbled upon across then net. Honestly I have found blogs to be more helpful then any of the books I have read! These are more household items…

Star Dust Shoes ~ Tissue Holder
As for baby clothes… here are some of the projects I started with… & some that look like they are good basics. Having girls make it a little easier π

Cool site, love the info.

I have already skimmed your site at least once and so far like it. And yes you are right, most blogs tell you more than some books or actual websites can tell you, because it’s being told directly from the person who wrote the blog. Keep up the good work.
